エンブレム - ATOLS

Long time no post, folks! I doubt anyone still checks this blog for new translations but I have seen my old ones used over the years even on the English NND for translation via video comments (properly attributed or not). I haven't been actively studying Japanese but as was tradition years ago, I got an ATOLS song stuck in my head and felt the need to translate it.

I don't see myself translating songs on a regular basis like I did back in high school, but I hope that this translation 1) does the song justice and 2) shows how my understanding of the Japanese language and how other translators operate has changed over the years. I did take pride in my more active years and enjoyed those times when composers would reply to my tweets in thanks for the translation.

Awa Odori is Japan's largest dance festival, which takes place in the Tokushima prefecture.
Raijin is a Japanese god of thunder.
An umibōzu is a Japanese sea entity that will capsize a ship if any occupants speak of it.
